Trip Update

Wireless is hard to come by in the little towns of Sicily. So here is a great experiment, can I blog from my iPhone? Italy is hot in the summer but a good time to visit because everyone goes to the mountains or sea. Rome was empty and we walked up to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and other sites without having to fight any crowds.
Unlike most people think scooters in Italy are utilitarian. But they have caught on that the rest of us have a love for them and there is Vespa crap all over the place. Most scooters are big wheeled Aprilia or the like and it is not uncommon to see bikes from Taiwan. Old scoots are rare as the government started paying to get them off the streets years ago.
But life is as I remember it, people and food first everything else second.
Be sure to check twitted for daily updates ok our travels. Pictures to follow as soon as I get an Internet connection.

Greetings. Recently discovered the PodCast and am enjoying greatly!

Just got back from a trip to Italy and Greece. We were only in Venice, however I can tell you that there is good vintage Vespa spotting in, VENICE!? Actually, on the Lido, the “Riviera” of Venice. In one day, saw a Rally 200 in great condition, a 150 Standard in well-ridden original condition, a 1954 restored fenderlight (in a shop), plus a lot of small frames and a bunch of Ape’s. Also many nicely restored Fiat 500 and Citroen Mehri’s tooling around. Of course, many P’s in good condition and nicely done, not to mention many newer automatic Vespas.

In Corfu/Greece, saw a bunch of nice small frames, nicely restored and all ridden by what my wife called “cute young guys.” Also came across nice Sprints, Rallies, Sportiques, etc. Fun trip, tho most of our pics are of Vespas (didn’t see any Lambretta’s, etc). -.d, from Japan

Thanks for the comment. We love Venice, but have never ventured over to the Lido when we have been there. Sounds like a must the next time we are there.
